At long last: A MAN CHILD!!

Posted by JORDAN:

For those who didn't already know... we're having our fourth installment in October.

That's right, by the end of the year, we will have FOUR child tax credits to offset the abject poverty for which the aforementioned installments are largely responsible.  If you're shaking your head and thinking: "I could have sworn they just barely had a baby..."  we did.  She just turned one.  And our other daughter is three.  And our oldest daughter is Four....

...daughter, daughter, daughter.

GIRL, GIRL, GIRL!  You know this is something that has caused not insignificant consternation in our home.  You can read about that HERE, when we were hoping that Daphne would turn out to be a boy.

I have threatened for the last several months that if we do have another girl, I will buy a man dog, move out into a tent in the back yard, and the dog and I will both grow out whatever beards we can, never change our socks, and live off of beef jerky and raw steak until we die of asphyxiation in the tent.  (I'm sure it wouldn't take long for it to start smelling something terribly fearsome--and manly--in there.)

But thank heavens, that drastic change in lifestyle will not be necessary.  Yes, today I went with Jaicee to the ultrasound, and saw "IT" before the technician even pointed it out.  I knew what it was when I saw it, and it was in no way mistakable for the opposite.  It was a glorious sight to behold!  And never in my life did I ever think I'd say that about..."that."

And now, I am off and away to rejoice, and Jaicee will finish this blog post.

Well, regardless of what gender our babies are, I do still want a puppy.  But I would never let him die in a tent.

And yes, I am super excited to have a little boy!  I'm ready for blue blankets and trucks and farm animals!  YAY!  Now that's not to say I haven't enjoyed my sweet little girlie things.  When I was pregnant with Naivie, I decided I didn't want too much pink.  I'd rather have purple and yellow instead.  But having three little girls has definitely softened me and I really love all the pink things we have now :)  But it will be nice to have a break from that and explore the little boy aisles!

Here are some pictures of the man-child from our ultrasound today:

Even though these pictures are so fascinating and very technologically advanced, they are still a bit creepy really.  The baby always looks like a zombie or mummy or mutant or something.  Naivie thought we had REAL pictures of the new baby, and she examined these for several minutes with a concerned look on her face.

Naivie: "Mom, he's covered in something.  What is all over his face?"

Trying to explain an ultrasound to a four year old is impossible, and she was clearly dissatisfied with our answer.  When she handed the pictures back, she said: "Mom, I don't want to see these again."

Well, in spite of distorted 3-D ultrasound pictures, we saw the important parts.  YAY FOR BOYS!!!
