Fashion Divas, Laundry, and Long, Yucky Nights...
Posted by Jaicee
The week didn't start out badly, in fact it started out just great! As usual, every morning when Norah sees Naivie putting on her big girl panties, she always asks to wear some too, and doesn't let me take them off all day! So most of the time, here's what our little fashion diva looks like:

It just makes me so proud! At least we know she won't find panties strange when she starts potty training. I just wanted to share that with all of you :)
Then all of a sudden our lives became the song "Just Another Day in Paradise" by Phil Vassar. I used to smile when I heard that song because I thought it was sweet, now it just stresses me out. Anyway, on top of the many other stresses, our washing machine gave out. First it started making bad clanking metallic noises, like gears stripping... then it got worse... then the smell of belts... then nothing. It just shut itself off and we haven't been able to get the slightest response out of it. And of course, what was I washing at the time? Jeans, heavy towels, and sweaters.
So Jordan went to work wringing them out as best he could, and we took them down to the on-site laundry here and dried them a million times. So here it sits, full of water, until we can figure out what to do with it. In the mean time, quarters have become more valuable than gold - it takes approximately 4,000 quarters to do one load of laundry. I've counted.

Then, Wednesday Naivie got really sick with something. Vomiting and mild diarrhea off and on. Between throwing up, she acts perfectly normal: happy, wrestles with Norah, no fever, eats well - it's just funny. But about once during the night and once during the day she'll throw up and be miserable for a few minutes. Yesterday, she did really well, and I thought she was getting better. But then last night, I woke up hearing some yucky noises, and found that it was not Naivie throwing up, but Norah. Argh!
So I got her and her bed cleaned up (I've been getting really good at this lately) and got Norah back in bed just in time to turn around and find Naivie throwing up in her bed. I have the most inconsiderate children! Don't they know daddy and mommy need to sleep? So I spent a few hours scrubbing and rinsing and taking trips to the laundry room and back. Of all the times for our washing machine to give up the ghost, this is the week I need it the most!
Jordan helped as much as he could, but bless his heart, he doesn't do well with puke. It's okay, I'll deal with the puke... I just can't handle one more person throwing up.

Norah told me that Dora would help her feel better, so I guess that's what we're going to be doing all day.

Naivie slept in until almost 10:00.
I'm just grateful that I have not gotten sick yet. And I WON'T! But honestly, if I could trade them, I would rather be the sick one. At least it would be less messy. I can't get them to understand that they need to run to the bathroom when they feel yucky.
I'm sorry, now you all probably feel sick too.
We're just praying that we'll get this out of our systems before Christmas!

I'm too sexy...
Posted by Jordan
This holiday season I took about a bazillion pictures of my family, which by the way, was a lot of fun for me. They didn't all turn out, and some are certainly better than others, but here are a few that I'm particularly proud of.
They're not perfect (as any trained professional would tell you), but I really feel like I'm slowly figuring things out and improving. If only I had more time to practice, practice, practice... and maybe just some lighting equipment... Anyway, upward and onward! I someday hope to be as good as some of the pros...
BROTHER AND WIFEY!

BROTHER AND WIFEY!

BEAUTIFUL COUSINS!

SISTERS AND BROTHERS IN LAW!!

Someday, I'm going to get good enough that I can charge money for this.
Of course, I'll still do my family for free.

Greatest Christmas Decoration Ever
I thought this was hilarious. Someday I'm going to try it.
P.S. Keep those names coming! We've had a couple suggestions that we like A LOT. Names that we've never considered but that we liked immediately when we read them.
It's highly likely that we will actually end up picking a name from these posted comments!
Who will win?....

NAME OUR BABY!!!
That's right: Name our baby.
We're going to try a little contest. We're not sure what kind of participation we'll get, but now that we know from the results of our "gender poll" that at least 30 people actually read this blog (which, by the way, is about 28 more than I expected), we're hoping to mine your collective creativity and see if we can't come up with a suitable name for our third daughter.
Here are the rules:
-You may submit no more than three first names and/or three middle names.
-Submit names by commenting on this post.
-No, we're not trying for an "N" theme, which means all first letters are fair game. (But if it happens to be another N, then so be it!)
-No combinations of Jordan and Jaicee (all you'll get is Jayden, which is already out).
-We want serious, viable names... (we're talking to you LANDON, TAYLOR, and NAOMIE...) We're not naming our daughter Xena Warrior Princess Knutson. I don't think we need say more. : )
Now we're fully expecting that there will be many fewer comments on this post than there were votes on our gender poll, so we thought we'd throw in a little incentive for you to participate: If one of the names you have submitted--first or middle--actually makes it to the birth certificate, you will win...
you will win a...
a big... um...
Okay, well, we haven't quite decided on that part yet. But we're thinking something along the lines of movie tickets and some Cold Stone coupons, or a gift certificate to Chili's, or something like that. Maybe if we see anything exciting on Woot.com, we'll snatch something really cool for a prize. We'll be sure to announce the final prize decision within the next month or two.
Regardless, if we choose one of your names, you will always have the satisfaction of knowing that YOU will be personally mentioned when our child is old enough to ask: "Mom and Dad, where did my name come from?"
Now, of course, we reserve the right to go with a name of our own if none of your submissions strike our fancy. But that wouldn't be nearly as fun, so seriously, give it a try. Obviously we have already ranged from the very contemporary (Naivie) to the traditional (Norah), so it's wide open.
Let's have it.
